Hi, I'm Malaka Wickremasinghe

Solutions Architect | Open Source Enthusiast | Tech Lead
"I don't just build systems; I architect digital independence. My philosophy is rooted in the Open Source movement—prioritising transparency, security, and complete ownership of data."

🚀 Who I Am

I am a dedicated technologist based in Sri Lanka, specializing in the deployment and management of high-performance, open-source infrastructure. With a background in solutions architecture and a deep-seated passion for the self-hosted ecosystem, I help bridge the gap between complex backend environments and seamless digital experiences.

I believe that in an era of proprietary "black-box" software, the most resilient and ethical path forward is through community-driven, open-source standards.

đź›  Expertise & Tech Stack

  • Infrastructure & Orchestration: Advanced containerization using Docker and Kubernetes. I specialize in creating portable, scalable environments that can run anywhere, from a local home server to global cloud providers.
  • The Self-Hosted Stack: An advocate for data sovereignty. I architect self-hosted solutions for content management (Ghost, WordPress), communication, and privacy-first analytics.
  • System Hardening: Deep experience in Linux administration (Debian/Ubuntu/Alpine). I focus on minimal attack surfaces, automated security patching, and robust CI/CD pipelines.
  • Web Architecture: Building on the "Small Web" philosophy—fast, lightweight, and accessible websites that prioritize the user over the algorithm.

đź’ˇ My Open Source Philosophy

Every project I undertake is guided by three core principles:

  1. Ownership: You should own your data, your code, and your platform.
  2. Transparency: Security is found in open, auditable code, not in "security by obscurity."
  3. Efficiency: Lean, containerised applications that respect hardware resources and maximise performance.
